Short version
LunaSim is a browser game. It does not use cookies, does not ask you to sign up, does not sell anything, and does not share your personal data with anyone. The only data stored about you lives in your own browser and anonymized product analytics from Vercel.
What we store in your browser (localStorage)
These keys live on your device and are never transmitted anywhere. Clear them any time by opening DevTools → Application → Local Storage, or by clicking Reset progress on the intro screen.
lunasim_locale— your chosen UI language (en, ru, es, zh, ja, de, fr).moonbase_personal_best_v2— your best score per difficulty + archetype label, so we can surface it on the intro screen.moonbase_unlocked_archetypes_v2— which of the 8 narrative archetypes you've earned.moonbase_run_count— how many runs you've completed at each difficulty.moonbase_tutorial_shown— whether you've dismissed the first-run tutorial.
What Vercel Analytics collects
We use Vercel Analytics, an anonymized product-analytics service that records page views and a handful of custom game events (game_start, funnel_step per phase, dilemma_choice, game_finalize, share). Per Vercel's own disclosure, the service never sets cookies, does not collect IP addresses or device identifiers, and hashes visitor data for a rolling 24-hour window before discarding it. No cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers.
We use this data in aggregate to understand which phase of the game players drop off on, which dilemma options they pick, and which archetypes they earn. It is never tied to an individual.
What we do not do
- No cookies (first-party or third-party).
- No email collection, no signup, no accounts.
- No ad networks, no affiliate trackers, no cross-site pixels.
- No selling, licensing, or sharing your data with anyone.
- No localStorage data leaves your browser — the game is fully client-rendered.
Shared runs (/r/[state])
When you use the Share button, your tech picks, dilemma choices, and RNG seed are encoded into the URL itself. The URL is the data — we don't store a copy server-side. Anyone you send that URL to can replay your exact run deterministically. If a link preview crawler (Twitter, Discord, iMessage) hits the URL, Vercel's edge generates a static OG image from those encoded parameters.
Deletion / rights
Because nothing persistent is stored about you server-side, deletion is immediate and local: clear your browser's localStorage for lunasim.vercel.app, or click Reset progresson the intro screen. Vercel's anonymized analytics rolling data is automatically expired and cannot be tied back to you.
